Did you know?
The book was originally called The Kingsman when I first envisioned it. I had a couple of preliminary chapters completed and an outline done. But...that movie came out and stole my thunder! And damn, if there weren't some similarities, too. I haven't seen the movie, but my understanding is that they're a secret organization serving the King... sound familiar? Grrrrrr. (Remember, the ideas for my book go back 20+ years to high school for me!) Anyway, I changed the name of the book and the Order. In many ways, I think it came out better.
Loved this book. It was hard to put down and there were nights where I was up to the wee hours of the morning telling myself - just one more chapter. ~L. Peterson |
I had originally had the main character be well and truly evil. In the course of writing, things change a bit. Of course, being part of the King's Own is not a happy life; it's utterly unforgiving, and almost always unappreciated and unknown. Not exactly the kind of thing that draws a happy, smiling hero type...
The King's Own is a well written book with multiple twists that keeps the reader enthralled throughout the story line. Every time you have a handle on what is happening a new twist arises. It is a must read for those that enjoy a unique twist on medieval Knight stories. ~ Amazon Review
