ABOUT ME
I’m a dog lover and an avid reader. I love to run and find that I come up with my best ideas while running. I’m a huge movie buff, enjoying all genres. A self-professed nerd, I love all things sci-fi and fantasy. I even owned a life-sized TARDIS my friend built for me! I love a good Scotch and the occasional cigar, and I love to cook and grill. On beautiful spring and summer days I enjoy long runs, shorter runs with my dog, or a long ride on my motorcycle.
Of course, I love to tell stories, always making up my own adventures as the Dungeon Master while playing D&D (since I was 7 years old). |
MY WORKThe King’s Own are as feared as they are ruthless, doing all of those hard, and sometimes terrible, things necessary to ensure the safety of the realm. Owing allegiance to the King alone, they are his spies, his assassins, and his advisors. They exist to walk in the shadows, to enforce the King’s will, to change the course of entire wars, and to root out dissenters. They live without family, in service to the crown, unknown and unsung.
A young man conscripted to fight in a war far away from home. Blood and loss tempered with hope and a vow. Recruited into the King’s Own, he must learn quickly to do whatever it takes to serve the kingdom so that others can live their lives in relative peace and safety. But just how far will he go to keep his oath, especially when the King is murdered? |
Reviews
W. Marshall weaves a compelling low-fantasy adventure which is character driven and sets the stage for, hopefully, more work in this universe. I particularly enjoyed that the adventure is character driven, and that the reader exclusively sees through the eyes of the main character of the book. If the character doesn't know it, the reader doesn't know it. This allows the world to take on much more depth, and ultimately aids in the understanding of the characters and their plight even if some of that understanding is retrospective in nature.
I was very impressed with the quality of both the writing and storytelling. You will not find very many first-time authors with W. Marshall's degree of literary skill and storytelling capacity. ~Jack S.
